What do you think of diving a very low price and without having to carry heavy tanks? We think that the idea is not brand new, from its origins the history of underwater is full of solutions in this sense, but the novelty is that this system is portable and of very small size.
An Australian start up is undergoing a crowdfunding to develop the project, which should be ready for the summer of 2018.
It is a mini compressor connected to a diving regulator, the 12V battery is rechargeable in 3 hours and half in any electric outlet; this means a really low cost of immersion. AirBuddy's autonomy would be 45 minutes at 12 meters. It is fully modular and this would allow it to be used in 2 divers, reducing the depth to 6 meters.
The weight of AirBuddy is 9.5 kg, and it is very easy to fit in 2 minutes.
I would like to point out that we have no relationship with this company, but the idea seemed curious and worthy of being shared.
Here's a demonstration video of how it works.
